File a consumer complaint
For problems with goods or services (defects, deficient service, unfair trade practices), first try the National Consumer Helpline for pre-litigation resolution. If that fails, file a case online before the District, State or National Consumer Commission, depending on the value of the claim, through the e-Jagriti platform.
Steps
- 1
Register a grievance with the National Consumer Helpline (call 1915, WhatsApp, the app, or the website); the company is asked to resolve it
- 2
If unresolved, file a complaint on e-Jagriti before the appropriate Consumer Commission (District, State or National, based on the value of goods/services paid)
- 3
Attach the bill, warranty, correspondence and evidence; pay the fee where applicable
- 4
Attend hearings online or in person as notified
Documents
- Invoice/receipt
- Warranty/guarantee
- Correspondence with seller
- Photos or other evidence
- Fees
- No fee for complaints where the value of goods or services paid is up to ₹5 lakh; fees apply above that.
