Book train tickets and check railway concessions
Reserved train tickets can be booked online on IRCTC (website or Rail Connect app), at railway reservation counters, or through authorised agents. Concessions are available only for specified categories.
Steps

Create an IRCTC account and authenticate it with Aadhaar (required for online Tatkal booking)
- 2
Search trains, choose class and quota, add passengers and pay online; the advance reservation period is 60 days (excluding the date of journey)

Tatkal booking opens one day before the journey (AC classes and non-AC classes open at different times)
- 4
For concessions (for example persons with disabilities, certain patients, and other notified categories), carry the prescribed certificate and the concession ID where applicable
- 5
Cancel and get refunds online, as per the refund rules; check PNR and running status on official Railway enquiry sites

- Valid photo ID while travelling
- Concession certificate/ID (if availing a concession)
