Get a caste, income or domicile (residence) certificate
These certificates are issued by state revenue authorities (Tahsildar/SDM/District Magistrate) and are needed for reservations, scholarships, fee concessions and welfare schemes. Most states offer online applications through their e-district or citizen service portals, and many certificates can be fetched in DigiLocker.
This service is run by state governments, so the portal and process depend on where you live. Find your state or ask below with your state name.
Steps
- 1
Go to your state's citizen service/e-district portal (or a CSC/state service centre)
- 2
Choose the certificate type, fill the form and upload supporting documents
- 3
Pay the state fee, if any; verification is done by the revenue office
- 4
Download the digitally signed certificate or fetch it in DigiLocker
- 5
For central government jobs/admissions, make sure the OBC (non-creamy layer) or EWS certificate is in the central format and is valid for the relevant year
